We would like to make carers in
Abthorpe who are looking after a loved one, aware of this excellent
Age Concern service. If you would like more information either
telephone the Service Advice Team in
or have a chat to us.
CARERS RESPONSE TEAM. This Age Concern service has been operating
since 2001 and is delivered by trained staff who can be used to offer
carers some much needed respite. What the carer chooses to do is not
an issue: whether they need the time to have their hair cut, do the
shopping without feeling anxious about leaving their loved one alone
– or simply going upstairs for some sleep. The Carers Response Team
will sit with the cared-for person, help prepare a light lunch, help
to the toilet and provide company.
It is a vital service to those who need to reclaim their lives back
every now and then. It covers all of Northamptonshire and best of all,
For anyone wishing to take advantage of the Carers Response Team, call
the Service Advice Team at Age Concern on 01604 611 200. One of the
staff will visit the home and complete an assessment.
Red Cross “Dial-a-Wheelchair”
service launched in Northamptonshire
Following the success of the British Red Cross
“Dial-a-Wheelchair” service in Leicestershire, the service
has recently been launched in Northamptonshire.
Wheelchairs are available on short term loan (up to eight weeks),
making the service suitable not only for those who have recently come
home from hospital, recovering after an operation or injury, but also
for visiting relatives, days out, or even a holiday loan.
We request that clients make a donation towards the service and upkeep
of the chairs, thus enabling us to continue to help others in need.
Wheelchairs can be collected from our office on
, or a delivery and collection service is available for which there is
a small charge.
If you require any further information please contact Justin Prescott
(dial-a-wheelchair assistant co-ordinator) on 01604 678500 or e-mail: email@example.com
